Primo VE: Why don't OpenURL searches into Primo display the full record?
When you search Primo from an external resource such as an Electronic Database, you are accessing the Primo VE Services page, which is a front end to the Alma Link Resolver.
The Primo VE Service page is described here:
This document states "Alma’s link resolver uses the Services page, which is a dedicated Primo page that provides a subset of the capabilities (such as suppressed Main menu links, Search section, and Details service) that the Full Display page provides in Primo, to display a record's services." The intention of the Services page is to provide various services to access the record (full text linking or a resource sharing request form), but does not provide a full bibliographic record.
The Ex Libris "
Alma Link Resolver Workflow" document describes the process to retrieve the services for the OpenURL request. The "Match Biliographic Record/s" step determines which services are applicable for the record.
Due to the design of the Link Resolver Services Page, it is not possible to display the robust bibliographic record cataloged in Alma. It would be possible to display the author by adding it the openURL request (rft.au) parameter if available.
