Pressbook Plugins

Plug-in Details:

  1. Interactive HTML5 activities and content. Possible examples: Image juxtaposition, branching scenario,  or flashcards. 

Hypothesis (Network active)
  1. Enables social annotation with the Hypothesis web annotation client. 

Parsedown Party
  1. Authors can write and publish content using markdown.

TablePress & TablePress Exension
  1. Allows authors to create, import and display sortable/filterable tables in their books. The recommendation is to enable both options at the same time. 

  1. Allows users to regenerate thumbnail sizes for images that have been uploaded to the media library.

  1. Allows users to publish formulae and graphics using LaTeX & TikZ

Activating Plugins

While there are a few plug-ins that are set and managed by the network, the majority are enabled within each book. Follow the steps below to activate the plug-in for you book:
  1. Navigate to the Plug-ins Icon on the left menu
  2. Select the Plugin icon
  3. Activate the applicable plugin by clicking or selecting the activate hyperlink under the plug
  4. A plugin active flag will display at the top of the page. 
Feel free to submit a ticket to the PALS office, and we'll activate the plug-in/s for you.


Third Party Plugins

Pressbooks limits the availability of additional third party plugins for WordPress. If you are interested in requesting an additional WordPress plugin to be used in the Minnesota State instance of Pressbooks, please submit a ticket with the following information. 
  1. The plugins name
  2. The plugin's site url,
  3. The specific desired functionality
  4. If known, is the plugin is open source and maintained
The PALS office will submit the request for review and will share the results once we've heard back from Pressbooks.
