Importing Bibliographic Records from Connexion to Alma

Importing bibliographic records from Connexion to Alma, matching to the Network Zone.

Connexion

1. Find and open the bibliographic record in the Connexion Client.

2. Add MARC field 94  MARC field at the end of the bibliographic record. The 949 field creates a holding and item record in Alma upon import.

      Enter the following values at a minimum:

      subfield b = barcode

      subfield d = library code (all capital letters)

      subfield e = location code (all capital letters)

3. In Connexion, validate, update holdings, and export the bibliographic record. Set-up OCLC Connexion to Import Bibliographic Records to Alma.

Either export/save each record individually to the folder or use the Process Batch functionality to export the bibliographic records to the folder.   

Importing bibliographic records to Alma

1. From the Resources menu, choose -> Import.

 

2. From the list of Import Profiles, click on the ellipses next to the Connexion Book Import Profile, which uses the Network Zone to match, and then choose Run. Other Import Profiles follow the same steps.   


3. From the import profile screen, click on Select File.

4. Click on the folder icon to browse the bibliographic import file on your computer.  


5. Enter a label; it can be helpful to include the initials of the person loading. 


6. Click the add button.

7. From the import screen, click on the Submit button. 

8. The Monitor and View Imports page opens. Click refresh to see the progress and completion of the import.   

9. Once the import is complete, the File Processed column will turn green and change to 100%. Click on the ellipses next to the import, choose Report to see how bibliographic records were imported and if any errors occurred during the import process. 

10. Reports display information on the total number of records processed, matches to the NZ, holdings, items created, and much more.
